Preparation Guide for the Accountant Position at Insight BPO (Dhaka – Dhanmondi)

1. Understand the Role and Core Responsibilities
• Perform bookkeeping and month‑end/year‑end closings for UK clients.
• Prepare accounts using Xero, IRIS, QuickBooks, or other UK‑compliant cloud systems.
• Process UK payroll, including PAYE, NIC, pensions and statutory payments.
• Compile management‑account schedules (accruals, pre‑payments, debtor/creditor listings).
• Prepare and file UK VAT returns and support personal tax return preparation.
• Assist with UK company secretarial duties and general practice tasks.

2. Match Your Profile to the Minimum Requirements
a. Age: 22‑34 years.
b. Experience: 3‑4 years of UK‑focused bookkeeping/accounting, preferably within BPO, audit, tax consultancy, financial consultancy or FinTech environments.
c. Education: ACCA Applied Skills Level (or higher) and an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business from ACCA.
d. Mandatory certification: Xero Certification.
e. Additional experience: at least two years after completing the CA course or an equivalent qualification.

3. Certifications and Qualifications
• If you have not yet earned Xero Certification, enroll in the official Xero training program and schedule the exam as soon as possible.
• Review ACCA Practical Experience Requirements (PER) and gather evidence of completed work‑based tasks that align with Insight BPO’s service areas.
• Keep copies of your ACCA and CA certificates, transcripts, and any relevant diplomas ready for upload.

4. Technical Skill Refresh
a. Xero – Practice the entire end‑to‑end workflow: bank feeds, invoice creation, reconciliation, VAT returns, payroll.
b. IRIS & QuickBooks – Review key screens, reporting functions, and UK tax settings.
c. UK Payroll – Re‑study PAYE calculations, NIC categories, pension auto‑enrolment, statutory maternity/paternity pay.
d. VAT – Memorise the filing deadlines, standard, reduced and zero‑rate rules, and how to submit through HMRC’s portal.
e. Company Secretarial – Familiarise yourself with filing annual returns, confirmation statements, director appointments and resignations.

5. Soft‑Skill Development
• Strengthen communication: practice explaining complex accounting topics in plain language, as you will liaise with UK clients.
• Enhance teamwork: recall examples where you collaborated across time zones or with remote teams.
• Stress management: prepare a personal method for handling tight month‑end deadlines (e.g., checklist, time‑blocking).

6. Resume and Application Package
a. Tailor your CV to highlight the exact tasks listed in the job description, using the same terminology (e.g., “UK payroll processing”, “VAT return preparation”).
b. Include a separate section for certifications (Xero, ACCA, any CA qualification).
c. List the accounting software you are proficient in, specifying the level of expertise (basic, intermediate, advanced).
d. Attach a concise cover letter that explains: why you are interested in a UK‑focused BPO role, how your 3‑4 years of experience align with Insight BPO’s services, and your commitment to professional growth (PER, ACCA exams).
e. Complete the online application form at the provided Google‑Forms link and upload the documents as requested.

7. Research Insight BPO
• Review the company website (reventonfinancial.com) to understand their service portfolio and client base.
• Note any recent news, blog posts, or case studies that showcase their work with UK startups and SMEs.
• Identify the key values they promote (professional development, teamwork, client compliance) and be ready to reference them in interview answers.

8. Interview Preparation
a. Technical Questions – Expect scenarios such as: “Walk me through the month‑end closing process for a UK client,” or “How do you handle a payroll discrepancy discovered after submission?” Prepare step‑by‑step responses.
b. Behavioral Questions – Use the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) format to illustrate experiences with tight deadlines, cross‑functional collaboration, and error detection.
c. Case Study – Be ready to perform a short bookkeeping or VAT reconciliation exercise; practice with sample data sets beforehand.
d. Cultural Fit – Emphasise your willingness to work with partial UK time‑zone overlap, your team‑player attitude, and eagerness for continuous learning (e.g., upcoming ACCA exams).

9. Logistics for the Interview
• Location: Insight BPO office, Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
• Dress code: Business professional (shirt, trousers/skirt, polished shoes).
• Documents to bring: Printed copies of CV, certificates, Xero certification badge, ID proof, and any reference letters.
• Arrive 10‑15 minutes early to allow for security check‑in.

10. Post‑Interview Follow‑Up
• Send a thank‑you email within 24 hours, reiterating your interest, summarising a key point you discussed, and attaching any supplementary documents (e.g., copy of your ACCA PER log).

By systematically addressing each of the points above, you will present a strong, targeted profile that matches Insight BPO’s expectations for the Accountant role. Good luck!
